Donohoe, Kurtz Capture Gold at ECAC Championship

FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Richmond's track and field team competed Saturday in the first day of the ECAC Championships hosted by George Mason. Two Spiders captured gold, five others finished in the top five in their events and one advanced to the finals.

Caroline Donohoe captured gold in the 800 meter with a time of 2:09.75.

For the first time in program history, Laurel Kurtz captured ECAC gold in the 10,000 meter finishing with a time of 37:25.25.Â
Gabrielle Cummings placed eighth in the 100-meter preliminaries with a personal-best 11.95 to advance to the finals Sunday.

Virginia Beringer took bronze in the 400 meter with a time of 54.83.

In the 1,500 meter, Brooke Reif capture silver in 4:25.41 and Hallie Muniz took bronze in 4:29.32. Both posted personal-best times.

In the 10,000 meter, Paige Joyce capture bronze with a time of 39:08.87.

In the long jump, Molly Wise took silver with a mark of 5.89 meters.
