
Bakhaya Leads Spiders Past Wildcats for Seventh-Straight Win, Most Since 2016

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team extended its win streak to seven matches with a dominant 4-0 sweep of Davidson on Sunday at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. The Spiders improved to 12-6 on the season, their most wins in a single campaign since going 13-10 in 2016, and improved to 4-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference action.
How It Happened
Richmond set the tone early in doubles play, winning on courts one and two to claim the opening point. Lara Bakhaya and Andrea Campodonico delivered a 6-3 win over Kavya Patel and Daniela Porges (DAV) on court one, while Sofia Barbulescu and Elizabeth Novak clinched the point with a 7-5 victory on court two.
In singles action, Bakhaya led the charge again, defeating Porges 6-1, 6-3 on court three to stretch her personal win streak to eight matches. The junior hasn't lost a singles match since March 22, when she posted a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win over Massachusetts' Thamonpan Jonglertakul.
Novak followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ellie Hammond (DAV) on court five, and Barbulescu delivered the clinching point with a 7-5, 7-6 (4) victory on court one. The remaining matches were left unfinished with Richmond leading in all three.
