
Women’s Lacrosse Dominates in Conference Opener Against George Mason

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond's women's lacrosse team opened Atlantic 10 play, cruising past George Mason with a 20-4 victory Saturday afternoon at Robins Stadium. Senior Grace Muldoon reached a career milestone of 100 goals, and senior Colleen Quinn tied a career high of six goals.
With the win, the Spiders improve to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the A-10. Meanwhile, the Patriots fall to 5-3 and 0-1 in league play. The last time Richmond won by this margin was on Feb. 15, 2023, when the Spiders beat William & Mary 20-4.
Ten Spiders contributed to scoring goals, and 15 players tallied points on the day. Quinn led the team with seven points on six goals and one assist. Muldoon earned a hat trick, collected an assist, and junior Juliana Stanley also netted three goals. Leading the team with assists was junior Alexis Morton, who tallied four. Freshman Chloe Conti scored two goals.
In goal, sophomore Abby Francioli tallied three saves in the first half of the contest. Freshman Maggie Mullen collected six saves in the final 30 minutes of play. On the draw, senior Clare McCooe snagged eight draw controls.
In the first quarter, Richmond opened with two goals scored by junior Charlotte Edwards and Quinn, 2-0. Then, George Mason opened the second quarter with two straight goals. In response, Quinn scored her second goal of the day. Shortly after, the Patriots scored their last goal of the first half, tying the game 3-3. The Spiders' offensive surge scored seven straight goals, giving them the lead going into halftime. Quinn scored three goals, while Stanley netted two and Muldoon and sophomore Bridget Lonsinger each put one past the keeper, 10-3.
At the start of the second half, Richmond opened with three straight goals by graduate student Whitney Liebler, Stanley and Muldoon, 13-3. George Mason scored its final goal of the game and was shut out for the rest of the contest, 13-4. Closing the third quarter, Quinn scored her sixth goal of the game, and freshman Elizabeth Darcy earned her first career goal as a Spider, 15-4. In the final frame, Muldoon scored her 100th career goal, completing her hat trick, 16-4. Less than a minute later, sophomore Amadi Higgins scored her first goal of the season, 17-4. Scoring for the first time as a Spider, freshman Chloe Conti scored back-to-back goals, and redshirt junior Megan Rice netted the final goal of the night, 20-4.
Richmond is back in action next Wednesday, March 12, at 2 p.m. to play A-10 foe Davidson.
