RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team cruised through doubles action but ultimately fell to Massachusetts, 4-3, on Saturday at home. With the loss, the Spiders fall to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference action while UMass improved to 7-5 and 2-0 in the A-10.

Richmond started strong by claiming the doubles point. Lara Bakhaya and Andrea Campodonico took down Campino and Jonglertrakul (UMass) 6-3 on court one. Richmond sealed the point with a win on court three, where Lainey O'Neil and Claire Le Du earned a 6-3 decision over Makhanya (UMass) and Pavissich (UMass). The match on court two, featuring Sofia Barbulescu and Elizabeth Novak against Tye (UMass) and Faessler (UMass), was unfinished, with Richmond leading 5-3.
In singles play, Campino (UMass) defeated Barbulescu 6-2, 6-2 on court one, followed by Faessler's (UMass) 6-2, 6-1 victory over Campodonico on court two.
