RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team suffered a 4-1 defeat against Fordham University on Friday afternoon at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. With the loss, Richmond fell to 5-5 on the year and opens Atlantic 10 Conference play at 0-1 while the Rams improved to 9-4 and 3-0 in A-10 play.

How it Happened
Fordham secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. At the third position, Fordham's Ueno Dalmonico and Padilla Udaeta (FOR) defeated Spider duo Andrea Campodonico and Lara Bakhaya, 6-4. Richmond responded on court two, where Elizabeth Novak and Sofia Barbulescu claimed a 6-2 victory over Bergmann and Chitambar (FOR). The decisive match at court No. 1 was close, with Kolarevic and Nguyen (FOR) edging out Andrea Campodonico and Lara Bakhaya in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-3).

In singles action, Kolarevic (FOR) defeated Sofia Barbulescu in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2 on court one. Bergmann (FOR) secured a win on court three, overcoming Abby Lee 6-1, 6-0 while Chitambar (FOR) clinched the match on court four for the Rams by defeating Lara Bakhaya in a three-set battle, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. Richmond's sole point came from court six, where Claire Le Du defeated Udaeta (FOR) 6-2, 7-6 (10-8). Elizabeth Novak was locked in a tight battle on court five with Ueno Dalmonico (FOR), leading 6-4, 5-5 when the match was left unfinished.
