RALEIGH, N.C. — The Richmond Spiders finished ninth in the 17-team City of Oaks Collegiate Saturday at Lonnie Poole Golf Course. Only four Spiders completed Saturday's final round after junior Hannah Lydic was forced to withdraw with an injury. Without the ability to discard their highest score, the Spiders carded a 37-over par in Round 3 to finish the event at 79-over par.
Sophomore Maya Beasley led Richmond in the event, finishing in a tie for 17th place at 14-over par (230). It was Beasley's sixth straight top-20 finish dating back to last October's Evie Odom Invitational. Beasley was mostly able to avoid trouble on a difficult setup at Lonnie Poole. Her 35 pars were tied for the most of any of the 95 golfers in the event.
Junior Olivia Wilkie tied for 26th at 17-over par after shooting 5-over (77) Saturday, the best of any Spider. Wilkie played the par 3s at even-par during the event, tied for fourth best in the field.
Freshman Katie Magner was among a group of six golfers to tie for 42nd at 23-over par.
Spider seniors Lauren Jones (+35) and Christine Mandile (+41) tied for 81st and 89th, respectively. Jones was competing as an individual.
Richmond will return to action next month at the UMD Terp Invitational in College Park, Md. on April 6-7.
