Spider Baseball Wins Eighth-Straight Game

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond baseball team defeated Longwood 12-2 in seven innings Tuesday at Pitt Field for the program's eighth-straight victory of the season.
With the win, the Spiders are now 15-2 on the season heading into Atlantic 10 Conference action this weekend. UR will host St. Bonaventure to open league play at Pitt Field with first pitch set for 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14.
Four Spider pitchers made quick work of the Lancers. Gerry Peacock made his longest start of the season, allowing one unearned run, a walk over three and a third of an inning with three strikeouts. Tyler Rigot got the win throwing one and two-thirds, allowing one hit and striking out four. Angel Santiago-Cruz made his collegiate debut, throwing a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Kellan Heney tossed the seventh, allowing one run on one hit.
Trevor Dosenbach got the Spiders scoring going in the second inning with a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded. Jordan Jaffe drew a bases loaded walk to force in a second run. Jack Arcamone launched a massive home run into the parking lot in right field for a grand slam and take a 6-0 over Longwood. The round-tripper was his fourth of the season and extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
In the fourth inning, the Spiders combined three hits and a hit batter to tack on four more runs for a 10-1 lead. DJ Pacheco brought in Jaffe before scoring on Michael Elko's three-run home run to right field.
Richmond added two more runs in the sixth as Brady O'Brien and Cole Palmeri both had RBI base hits to center field.
