
Spiders Capture Multiple Medals and Finish Third at Atlantic 10 Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The University of Richmond's women's track and field team concluded the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships with a third-place finish, earning 101 points. The day included a new school record, six podium finishes and a major award.
The Spiders earned gold medals in the 500-meter, 800-meter, 4x400-meter relay and 4x800-meter relay, silver in the 800-meter and bronze in the 400-meter. Freshman Molly Flanagan was named Most Outstanding Rookie Performer after winning two gold medals in an individual and relay event.
In the 400m, senior Elke Van der Westhuizen finished third with a personal best time of 55.41. Van der Westhuizen holds the third-best time on Richmond's indoor top-10 list.
Senior Virginia Beringer set a new school record and captured gold in the 500-meter with a personal best time of 1:11.63. Beringer broke the previous school record set by Rachel Helbling in 2022.
In the 800-meter, two Spiders finished on the podium. Flanagan earned gold with a time of 2:11.97, which ranks as the 10th-best time on Richmond's indoor top-10 list. Senior Allison Colflesh earned silver with a personal best time of 2:12.99.
Richmond's relay teams dominated the track as the 4x400 and 4x800 relays earned gold.
Finishing with the third-best time on Richmond's indoor top-10 list, the 4x400-meter relay team captured gold. The relay was run by Van der Westhuizen (56.55), Beringer (55.62), sophomore Morgan Elliott (57.06) and graduate student Darya Mikusova (56.24).
The 4x800-meter relay team finished with the 10th-best time on Richmond's indoor top-10 list and captured gold with a time of 9:03.23. The relay was run by senior Morgan Lyons (2:15.56), sophomore Ashley Bolesh (2:16.69), senior Dylan Miller (2:16.69) and Flanagan (2:14.27).
Richmond ended the Atlantic 10 Championships with eight podium finishes, including five gold medal finishes.
