Newman Named to Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team

RICHMOND, Va. — University of Richmond freshman forward Emma Newman has been named to the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer All-Rookie Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Newman becomes the first Spider to earn All-Rookie honors since 2016, when Brooke Beam and Alyssa Walker were selected. She is also Richmond's first all-conference honoree of any kind since 2019.
The Mission Viejo, Calif. native led the Spiders with six goals, 14 points, 43 shots and 24 shots on target while starting all 18 matches. She ranked among the Atlantic 10 leaders with a .561 shot accuracy (third), 2.35 shots per game (eighth) and 1.35 shots on goal per game (eighth), while posting a .558 shot-on-goal percentage.
Newman tied the program's single-game record with four goals in her collegiate debut versus VMI, earning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors on Aug. 18 and a TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week honorable mention. She later added goals against Queens and St. Bonaventure and logged 1,244 minutes on the season, tied for sixth most on the team.
