Spiders Sit Third After Day One at Patriot Invitational

FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Richmond's women's swimming and diving team opened the Patriot Invitational with strong relay performances, highlighted by the Spider 800 free relay.

In the 200 medley relay, the Spiders' A relay (Hannah Wieczorek, Presley Baber, Kaitlyn Martin and Julia Krichev) placed sixth in 1:43.90. Richmond's B relay (Caroline Weldon, Trinity Schulze, Gabbie Primiano and Lena Amare) finished ninth in 1:45.34.

The Spiders added a fourth-place finish in the 800 free relay with Natalie Stuart, Erin Budde, Kaitlyn Bauer and Carys Edgar combining for a 7:29.93. Richmond's B relay of Weldon, Mia Gregory, MaryAgnes Smith and Caitlyn Hughes placed eighth in 7:37.99.

Through Wednesday's finals, Richmond sits third in the women's team standings with 176 points.

The Spiders open day on Nov. 20 with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. in the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free. Finals begin at 5 p.m. and will include the 200 free relay.
