Rrapi Tabbed A-10 Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's soccer team has the honor of highlighting sophomore keeper Veronica Rrapi as this week's Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The weekly award marks the first of Rrapi's career and the fourth for the Spiders this season as Emma Newman, Morgane Zinn and Julia Lishia have each earned Rookie of the Week accolades earlier in the year.
Rrapi, a Monroe, Conn., native, anchored the Spider defense with a stellar effort in goal, recording five saves to secure a 0-0 draw on the road against one of the league's top teams, Loyola Chicago. The sophomore turned away multiple point-blank chances, including key stops in the first half to keep the match level. She finished with a perfect 1.000 save percentage and her fifth shutout of the season while playing all 90 minutes.
Through 12 starts this season, Rrapi ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in total saves (66, 45th nationally), first in saves per game (5.50, 23rd nationally) and second in save percentage (.868, 13th nationally). She owns a 0.84 goals-against average and five clean sheets across 1,080 minutes of action.
The Spiders will be back in action Thursday, traveling to crosstown rival VCU for a 7 p.m. kickoff before returning home to host George Washington on Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. at President's Field.
