BLACKSBURG, Va. – Paxton Pritchard picked up the lone singles win on court No. 2 as the University of Richmond men's tennis team opened the 2025 season with a 6-1 loss at Virginia Tech Friday afternoon in Blacksburg. With the loss, the Spiders fell to 0-1 on the year while the Hokies improved to 2-0 after defeating Longwood earlier in the day.

How it Happened
The Hokies cruised through doubles action as Sam Rathmanner and Paxton Pritchard were edged out by Jurina/Lozano (VT) 5-4 on court two. Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley dropped a 6-3 decision to Fahim/Thompson (VT) on court one, while the Hokies picked up the doubles point with the final court three win.

In singles action, Pritchard defeated Jurina (VT) with a tiebreaker victory, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8), on court two. On court one, Wiley pushed Fahim (VT) to the limit but fell in a tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8). The Hokies secured victories on the remaining courts, picking up the 6-1 win.
