How it Happened
After Emma Shields got a quick shot off in the fourth minute, the Rams applied pressure on the Richmond back line, posting two shots over two minutes before a shot in the eighth minute snuck past McKenna Dalfonso to put the Rams ahead 1-0. Kelly Hutton would have a look in the 20th minute but would be saved by the Fordham keeper. After a few bouts of possession, the Rams were able to pick up a penalty kick in the 34thminute that was denied by Dalfonso. Avery Nam would have a final look for the Spiders in the 42nd minute, but would be wide left as the Spiders ended the first half down 1-0.
Fordham again got out on the offensive front as the team posted three quick shots. Hutton would help the Spiders find their footing in the 59th minute, but would miss to the right. Brigitte Bussiere, Abby Dillon and Anna Gercia would all have looks to round out the second 45, but wouldn't be able to capitalize on the chances as the Spiders dropped the game 1-0.
Notes on the Game
From Head Coach Adam Denton
"We struggled to get a foothold in the game, didn't create enough opportunities and got pushed back a little bit and were timid in our defending in the midfield," Denton said. "The second half was better, but we left it a little 'too little too late' a little bit. In the last 15 minutes or so we started to create a little bit more opportunity and be a bit more aggressive but we were chasing the game for the majority of the time."
Up Next
The Spiders continue A-10 play on Thursday as the team travels to Rhode Island for a match up with the Rams at 7 p.m. before playing host to Loyola Chicago on Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. for the Mental Health Awareness Game.
