How it Happened
Longwood began the game with two quick shots before a swift build-up play sparked from Emma Coleman forced the opposition to concede an own goal in the 23rd minute. Brigitte Bussiere met the end of the cross from Coleman, but the Lancer defender slotted the ball into the back of the net. After a few substitutions from both teams, Emma Shields was able to head on a ball to freshman Kingsley Hughes. Hughes passed the ball to Anna Garcia who capitalized on a shot after beating a Longwood defender to put the Spiders up 2-0. In the second half, Gwen Howell would have a look in the 53rd minute, but the ball was just left of the goal. The Spiders would share bouts of possession with the Lancers, but wouldn't add to the score sheet as Richmond ended the match on top, 2-0.
