CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of Richmond women's soccer team fell 2-1 on the road to Queens Sunday afternoon at the Queens Sports Complex. The result marks the Spiders' first road loss of the season, moving them to 3-2-2, while the Royals improved to 1-4-2.

How it Happened
Queens struck first in the 24th minute when Juliana Hunter finished off a feed from Sejla Podzic. The Royals doubled their advantage just after halftime as Hunter turned provider, assisting McKayla Budion in the 50th minute.
Richmond pulled one back late in the second half as freshman Emma Newman continued her strong debut campaign, notching her fifth goal of the season in the 81st minute. Newman's tally was set up by Kingsley Hughes, who recorded her first career assist. Richmond pushed forward in the final minutes, but were unable to capitalize in the 2-1 loss.
Freshman goalkeeper Isabel Seifert made her collegiate debut, logging three saves in the full 90 minutes.
Notes on the Game
The Spiders will be back in action Sept. 11 at Longwood at 7 p.m. to round out the non-conference slate.
