Spiders Fall Short at No. 71 Liberty Saturday Afternoon

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team suffered a setback Saturday afternoon, falling 4-0 at No. 71 Liberty. With the loss, the Spiders fell to 6-6 overall while the Flames improved to 12-5.
How it Happened
The Flames picked up a 6-3 win on doubles court No. 1, before Spider duo Polina Shitikova and Lara Bakhaya got the lone doubles win off with a 6-0 win over Janikain/Turchetto (LU) on court two. Liberty secured the doubles point with a final 6-0 win on court three.
In singles, LU quickly got three singles wins off on courts three, five and one for the 4-0 victory. On court two, Elizabeth Novak was trailing Nguyen (LU) 6-2. 4-4, Shitikova was ahead 6-3, 2-4 on court four over Davtyan (LU) and Lainey O'Neil was tied with Daavettila (LU) 6-4, 1-6, 1-1 on court six, but all matches were abandoned.
