Women’s Tennis Kicks Off Fall Slate Saturday

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team opens the fall 2026 schedule this weekend to kick off a six-event slate, including hosting the River City Tennis Open at Westhampton Courts.
The Spiders will head to Williamsburg to participate in the Tribe Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13, before heading to Cary, N.C., Saturday, Sept. 19 to play in the ITA All-American Championships. UR closes out September action in Annapolis at the Navy Invite, Friday, the 25th through Sunday, the 27th.
Richmond will host the River City Tennis Open at the Westhampton Courts with matches starting on Friday, Oct. 2 and running through Sunday, Oct. 4. The squad will gear up for the ITA Regionals in Lynchburg, Va., hosted by Liberty, on Oct. 16-19 before wrapping up the fall slate at the Sumter W15 in Sumpter, S.C., Monday, Oct. 26.
The 2026-27 Spiders return all four 2026 Atlantic 10 All-Conference selections in Sofia Barbulescu, Abby Lee, Lucy Webber and Beatriz Guerra. Barbulescu won eight dual-match No. 1 singles matches and closed the season winning four of her final five completed matches. Lee tallied an 11-9 singles record and finished unbeaten against A10 opponents as she helped the squad to a 3-1 record against A10 teams.
Webber earned her first career all-conference nod after leading the Spiders with a 12-7 dual singles record. Competing primarily at the No. 3-5 positions, Webber pieced together a five-match winning streak through the middle of the year. Guerra made an immediate impact in her first season with the Spiders, primarily competing at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, she put together a 7-10 singles record while finishing undefeated in Atlantic 10 play.
Also returning for the Spiders is senior Lainey O'Neil, junior Amy Walsh and sophomore Daniela O'Leary. Newcomers, Marta Ferrer Solé (Barcelona, Spain), Victoria Mann (Greensboro, NC) and Madeline Kroupetski (Ontario, Canada) will kick off their collegiate career with the program.
