Men’s Tennis Defeats Hofstra Thursday Afternoon, Improves to 10-4 Overall

RICHMOND, Va. – In only the team's fourth match at the Westhampton Tennis Complex this season, the University of Richmond Men's Tennis team defeated Hofstra Thursday afternoon, 6-1, to move 10-4 on the year while the Pride fell to 4-9.

How it Happened
The Spiders picked up two dominant wins in doubles action as Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley downed Lyn/Guyou (HU) 6-3 on court two and Sebastian Miano and Paxton Pritchard defeated Garcia/Reynolds (HU), 6-2 on court three. Daniel Kliebhan and Nick Roddy led Matsuoka/Odani (HU), 5-3, but the match was left unfinished.

In singles, Kliebhan won a three-set thriller over Ostap (HU), 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 while Mark Taranov also win a three-set match over Matusuoka (HU) on court six, 4-6, 7-6, 10-7. On court three, Wiley defeated Garcia (HU), 6-4, 6-3, before Miano got the win on court four, 7-6, 6-3 over Odani (HU). Dylan Atkinson got the final win off for the Spiders on court five, picking up a 6-4, 6-0 win over Turina (HU). The Pride brought one back on court two, as Pritchard dropped a three-set battle to Reynolds (HU), 6-1. 1-6, 2-6 as UR won the match 6-1.

The Spiders are set for a full weekend of competition in Wilmington, N.C. as the team takes on UT Arlington on Mar. 23, and UNCW on Mar. 24. The Spiders return home on April 3 against Longwood to begin a six-game homestand.
