Spiders Drop A-10 Battle to Loyola Chicago Sunday Afternoon

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's soccer team suffered its fourth-straight Atlantic 10 Conference match to Loyola Chicago Sunday Afternoon at home, 1-0. With the shutout, Richmond fell to 3-7-2 on the year and 1-4 in conference play while the Ramblers improved to 7-2-5 overall and 2-0-4 in the A-10.

How it Happened
The Ramblers began the match with three early looks until a loose ball in the 23rd minute found the foot of a LUC player, who slotted the shot past Spider keeper McKenna Dalfonso for the 1-0 advantage. Anna Garcia would have the first look for the Spiders in the 27th minute, but would fly over the goal. The Ramblers kept Richmond pinned in their own half of the field over the first 45 minutes, collecting eight shots, but the Spider defense held strong as UR went into halftime down 1-0.
Out of the break, the Ramblers again had a quick look on target that was collected by Dalfonso. Kelly Hutton would get a shot off in the 58th minute, but was blocked by the Rambler back line. After sharing bouts of possession, Emma Roesing had a look on target in the 66th minute, but would again be denied by the LUC keeper as Richmond couldn't find the equalizer and dropped the match 1-0.

The Spiders will look to snap their four-match skid on Oct. 13, as the team travels to George Washington for a match against the Revolutionaries at 2 p.m. before playing host to (RV) Saint Louis on Oct. 17 at 4:30 p.m. at President's Field.
