Spiders Blanked by Explorers Sunday Afternoon

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In what was a rainy match day, the University of Richmond Women's Soccer team fell 3-0 on the road to La Salle Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Spiders fell to 2-7-3 on the year and 0-4 in the Atlantic 10 Conference, while the Explorers improved to 4-5-2 and 2-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After opening the match with back-and-forth possession, the Explorers began the scoring campaign in the 40th minute. In the second half, Molly Wierman opened up the second 45 with a shot that went just over the goal in the 55th minute. After a few fouls from the Explorers, La Salle netted the second goal in the 68th minute against the run of play. Nine minutes later, the Explorers put up the third goal of the match in the 77th minute. Wierman would put up one more shot in the half, but the Spiders couldn't put one back for the 3-0 score line.

The Spiders will be back in action at home on Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. for Alumni Weekend against St. Bonaventure and will take on Saint Louis on the road Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. ET.

- Richmond received yellow card in the 62nd minute while La Salle recorded two yellows (70th, 73rd).
- The series record against La Salle moved to 8-8.
