Richmond, Va. — The University of Richmond Men's Lacrosse team improved to 6-0 at Robins Stadium this season after an explosive third quarter lifted the Spiders past High Point, 13-9. The Spiders improve to 8-4 on the year, while the Panthers sit at 7-7 after the loss.
Richmond carried a 6-5 lead into the half before High Point tied the game at the14:08 mark of the third. From there though, the Spiders went on a 6-1 scoring run including back-to-back extra-man goals. With the score at 12-7, High Point was forced to play catchup, but at most pulled the game within four goals as the Spiders took down their old ASUN/SoCon foe who joined them in the newly-formed Atlantic 10 conference.

Perhaps one of the loudest moments in Robins Stadium this season came at the 11:16 mark of the third quarter when a Richmond clear allowed Saunders, a defenseman, to pass the ball over to fellow pole and long stick midfielder Stull for a goal. The tally came as Stull's first-career goal while Saunders' assist was his fourth and came as the gruaduate student's fifth-career point.
Richmond outshot High Point 44-37 and took advantage of their turnovers, causing 11, led by Saunders and Jake Kapp with three each. With the turnovers, Richmond was able to scoop 31 ground balls compared to High Point's 20.
Jared Chenoy went 11-21 at the face off circle and goalie Zach Vigue played a terrific game in cage, making 15 saves, causing two turnovers and picked up a ground ball.
Next up, the Spiders travel to Western New York to face first-time opponent Hobart in Geneva, N.Y. Face off is set for noon.
