
Spiders Return to Conference Play, Drop Hard-Fought Battle to George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – Returning to conference play, the University of Richmond Men's Tennis Team dropped a hard-fought battle, 4-2, to George Mason Friday afternoon on the road. With the loss the Spiders fell to 10-6 on the year and 0-2 in Atlantic 10 action while the Patriots improved to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in conference.
George Mason swept doubles action as the Patriot duos fired on all cylinders to clinch the doubles point. In singles play, Sebastian Miano picked up a hard-fought win on singles court five over Simunyola (GMU), 6-4, 6-1 while Alex Wernink took his singles court six match over Pedraza (GMU), 6-1, 6-2. William Karpinski split the first two sets with Khan (GMU) as he left his court two match unfinished, 6-1, 4-5.
The Spiders will continue conference play on Saturday, taking on Fordham at 11 a.m. in Fairfax.
