Spiders Sweep Radford for First Victory of 2023

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The University of Richmond Women's Tennis team picked up a huge victory over Redford Friday evening, 6-0. The Spiders improved to 1-5 and picked up their first victory on the year while Radford fell to 0-1.
"It was a great win for the team and one that we can definitely take some confidence from," said Head Coach Jacob Dunbar. "We're looking forward to getting back on the court tomorrow against Virginia Tech!"
In doubles action, Marta Buendia and Claire Le Du defeated McClure/Smolder (RAD), 6-1, while Elizabeth Novak and Lara Bakhaya defeated Murphy/Batth (RAD) in similar fashion, 6-1.
In singles play, Leonor Oliveira defeated Julia Abrams (RAD), 6-1, 6-4, Carly Cohen defeated Lexi Smolder, 6-4, 6-1, and Bakhaya defeated Batth (RAD), 6-1, 6-4.
The Spiders looks to continue the 2023 season on Saturday, taking on Virginia Tech at 1 p.m.
