Spiders Drop Home Finale to Rhode Island Thursday Afternoon

RICHMOND, Va. – A goal in the 18th minute of action from the opposition would be the difference as the University of Richmond Women's Soccer team dropped its 2023 home finale Thursday afternoon against Rhode Island, 1-0. With the loss, the Spiders fell to 3-10-4 on the year and 1-7-1 in the A-10 while the Rams improved to 4-7-6 and 4-2-3 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Molly Wierman put up a shot in the 10th minute, Rhode Island was able to work the ball down the field for back-to-back shots. In the 18th minute, the Rams slotted a shot past Taylor Montague for the 1-0 advantage. In the second half, JoJo McShane netted a shot in the 71st minute, but was ruled offside by the officials. Casey Merz would get a final shot off in the 87th minute, but the Spiders were unable to find the back of the net for the 1-0 loss.
