Spiders Conclude 2023 Season with loss at Duquesne Sunday Afternoon

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Women's Soccer team concluded its 2023 campaign with a tough 3-0 loss at Duquesne Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Spiders end the year with a 3-11-4 overall record and a 1-8-1 mark in the Atlantic 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first half, Molly Wierman would get a quick shot off in the seventh minute but would be collected by the Duquesne keeper. The Spiders struggled to get offensive rhythm going, with only one more look in the 37th minute, but managed to weather the Dukes offense and end the first half at a deadlock, 0-0.
The Dukes quickly found the back of the net in the 55th minute to go up 1-0 in the second half. Nine minutes later, a scramble inside the Spider penalty box found its way past senior keeper Taylor Montague, allowing Duquesne to build a 2-0 lead. After a few substitutions from the Spiders, the Dukes added the final goal in the 72nd minute following a corner from the opposition. The Spiders put three more shots up, but were unable to find the back of the net as the Spiders ended the match down 3-0.
