Spiders Concede Early, Drop Match at Loyola Chicago Thursday Night

CHICAGO, Ill. – The University of Richmond Women's Soccer team couldn't overcome a goal from the Ramblers in the sixth minute of action as the team dropped a 1-0 decision at Loyola Chicago Thursday night. With the loss, the Spiders fell to 3-9-3 and 1-6-0 in the Atlantic 10 conference while the Ramblers improved to 7-6-2 and 3-2-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After an early foul by senior Casey Merz, the Ramblers were able to send in a dangerous cross inside the box to an open foot and found the back of the net for the 1-0 advantage. Molly Wierman would put up the only two shots in the first half ('8, '35) and Marisa Snee would put up the third shot for the Spiders in the 59th minute, but it wasn't enough to overcome the first half deficit as Richmond fell 1-0.

The Spiders will look forward to their final two home matches, a Sunday matchup against Davidson on Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. and Rhode Island on Oct. 19 at 4:30 p.m. Richmond will round out its 2023 regular season at Duquesne on Oct. 22 at 1:30 p.m.
