Richmond Sweeps Hampton, 7-0

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep Friday against Hampton, only losing one set in six matches.
The Spiders (3-4) took a 1-0 lead after sweeping the doubles matches. Senior Kiana Marshall (Bridgetown, Barbados) and senior Lyndell Giffenig won 6-1 against Viktoria Grigoreva and Milena Amedieva at No. 1 doubles.
Sophomore Helene Heiberg (Oslo, Norway) and Marta Buendia (Madrid, Spain) clinched the doubles point for the Spiders with a 6-1 win against Keri Quillin and Tori Alexander at No. 3 doubles.
In the final doubles match, junior Emily Dunbar (Medina, Ohio) and freshman Andrea Campodonico (Asuncion, Paraguay) won against Viktoria Ljungman and Franzene Tsui, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, Giffenig won in straight sets against Alexander, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Marshall made it 3-0 Richmond with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles against Ljungman. Dunbar clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-0 win against Amedieva, at No. 1 singles.
Campodonico earned a straight-sets win at No. 4 singles against Grigoreva, 6-0, 6-2. Heiberg won in three sets against Laura Peralta, 6-3, 2-6, 10-2 at No. 3 singles and Buendia completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles against Tsui.
Richmond will face Liberty on the road on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. in Lynchburg, Va.
