GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team has been unstoppable this weekend, taking down its third-straight opponent with a 4-1 win at UNC Greensboro.
The Spiders took the doubles point for the third match in a row, as the No. 1 and 3 pairs logged wins to lock in the 1-0 lead. Kiana Marshall and Emily Dunbar posted a 6-0 sweep on court 1 over Blaine Boaz and Alice Taylor, while Lea Owens and Dessi Zlateva took down Corinne Blythe and Sophia Adams on court 3, 6-3.
UNCG managed to get a point back with a win at No. 1 singles, but three-straight singles wins for the Spiders would seal the win. Gaby Rosales took a 6-0, 7-5 win on court 5 over Blythe, before Adrienne Haynes took down Tayah Cross on court 6, 6-3, 6-1.
Owens would clinch the match for Richmond, taking a 6-4, 6-3 win on court 4 over Brianna Gomez.
"Our doubles play is getting better every match," head coach Mark Wesselink said after the win. "It was great to see Lea clinch today, and this was Adrienne's third win in a row, which is great to see from a rookie."
The Spiders return to action on Friday, when they travel to Philadelphia to take on A-10 foe Saint Joseph's. Match time is set for 2:30pm.
