Spiders Battle to 4-2 Win at Elon

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team won its second match in as many days on Saturday afternoon, taking down Elon, 4-2, at Starmount Country Club.
Elon tied things up with a singles win on court 3, but Dunbar posted a 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) win at No. 1 over Olivia Lucas to make it 2-1. Elon bounced back again with a win on court 4, before Marshall made it 3-2 with a 5-7, 6-1, 7-5 win on court 2 over Erica Braschi.
The match came down to the final two courts, but it was freshman Adrienne Haynes who pulled off the 6-2, 6-2 win over Ward on court 6 for the Spider victory.
"Emily's next point for us was key, as she came up with a straight set win, and Kiana fought back from down 5-4 in the third set to win 7-5 and set up Adrienne's scrappy win for the match," Wesselink said. "Adrienne is such a great competitor, and I'm so proud of her fight today."
Richmond has another quick turnaround and will face UNCG on Sunday in Greensboro. Match time is set for 1 p.m.

"Our doubles is finally coming together, as Nos. 1 and 3 got us off to a good start today," head coach Mark Wesselink said after the win.
