Ruskan Wins 1500m at Mason Spring Invitational

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Spiders put a strong showing at the George Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday, as three Spiders finished in the top-five in individual events.
Marisa Ruskan won the 1,500m in a time of 4:25.49, besting the next closest competitor by four seconds. Claire Brown (4:40.24) logged a top-ten finish in the race while Haley Preschutti (4:42.87) and Julia Willcox (4:45.51) finished inside the top-20. Abigail Seaberg clocked her fastest time in the event to date at 4:51.74.
Brooke Fazio posted the fifth fastest time in the 800m (2:11.19), which is an ECAC qualifying mark. In the 3,000m steeplechase, Erika Echternach placed fourth with a new personal best time of 11:51.61.
Marshea Robinson was the top Spider finisher in the 400m turning in a time of 59.14 while Chloe Smith crossed the line at 1:06.34. Nai'lah Rowe (25.56) won her heat of the 200m to finish 24th overall. Morgan Towe (26.10) and Robinson (26.24) finished 33rd and 34th, respectively, while Zenia Vrakas crossed at 30.34. In the 100m sprint, Rowe registered another top-25 finish with a time of 12.58. Towe crossed at 12.72 and Vrakas clocked in at 13.96.
On the men's side Noah Yuro (3:59.90) and Will Alpaugh (4:00.37) finished 29th and 30th, respectively in the 1,500m while Seamus Otto crossed close behind at 4:02.70.
The Spiders are scheduled to return to action at the Duke Invitational next weekend (April 20-21).
