ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team completed a weekend sweep on Sunday afternoon, taking down host Navy, 4-3, in Annapolis.
For the second-straight day, the Spiders found themselves down 1-0 after doubles play, but managed four singles wins to take the match.
"The guys made us nervous today, but they fought hard and got it done," assistant coach Jacob Dunbar said after the match. "When it came down to it, they played to win and brought us home when the pressure was on. We couldn't be prouder of their competitiveness and heart. They deserve the win"
Navy took doubles wins on courts 1 and 3 to clinch the doubles point, while George Lovitt and Brice Polender's match on court 2 went unfinished.
The Spiders went to work down 1-0, with Caleb Troy tying the match with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1 over Andrew Ton. John Karlawish followed suit, giving the Spiders the lead with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Aries Wong on court 2.
