Spiders Snag Six, Top-5 Finishes at Patriot Games

FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track and field team competed over the weekend at the Patriot Games, hosted by Atlantic 10 foe George Mason, and came away with six, Top-5 finishes and a fourth place finish overall.
Setting the tone once again was freshman Maria Acosta who ran to a second-place finish in the 800m run, clocking in with a time of 2:21.58. Kylie Regan also secured a second-place finish in the 3000m run with a time of 10:26.57. Erica Echternach joined Regan in the top five of that event with a time of 10:46.92, which was good enough for fifth. Marisa Ruskan debuted her season with a third-place finish in the mile (5:06.31).
In the field events, Sarah Timko placed fourth in the pole vault, clearing 3.40m while Bailey Gillespy placed second in the pentathlon high jump, clearing 1.55m. She went on to finish seventh overall with 2,710 points.
Four of the Spiders Men's Cross Country runners competed in the 3K. In section one, junior Alex Lucking ran 8:42.90 to place 6th while freshman, Miles Clikeman was close behind in a personal best 8:43.90 to place 8th. Jonathan Hogue crossed the line in 14th running 8:54.86. After a conservative start in section two, Andrew Testas placed 2nd closing the final 200M in 31 seconds. This event served as a tune-up for the men who will be in Bend, Oregon next weekend for the USATF National Cross Country Championships.
