Spiders Finish Seventh at Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships

FAIRFAX, Va. – After two days of competition, the University of Richmond indoor track & field team wrapped up competition at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championships, placing seventh in the final standings with a point total of 62.5.
The Spiders' performance was highlighted by the A-10 Champion Distance Medley Relay team of Marisa Ruskan, Maria Acosta, Haley Preschutti and Amanda Corbosiero, which took first with a combined time of 11:42.64 in Saturday's final.
Preschutti and Mary Allen won gold for the Spiders on Sunday, with Preschutti crossing the finish with a time of 2:55.57 in the 1000 M run, and Allen taking down her opponents in the 200 M dash with a time of 24.61.
Richmond medaled in each of Saturday's finals, with Sarah Timko tying for third in the pole vault with a best jump of 3.35m, and Shelby Cain taking second in the 5000 M run, finishing in 17:05.52. Ave Grosenheider and Jordan Angers also competed in the 5000 M for the Spiders, finishing in eighth and 18th place, respectively.
Cain stepped up for the Spiders again on Sunday, finishing fifth in the mile with a time of 4:59.02 out of the first heat. Ruskan and Corbosiero also posted top-10 finishes in the final, with Ruskan crossing ninth and Corbosiero 10th.
The Spiders got back on the podium in the 400 M dash, with Allen finishing third in 55.84. She also competed in the 60 M dash, finishing eighth.
In the 3000 M run, Kylie Regan won the first heat to finish eighth overall with a time of 10:06.11, while Colleen Carney finished 16th and Eryn Mills finished 25th.
In the final races of the meet, the 4x800 M relay team of Claire Brown, Preschutti, Corbosiero, and Ruskan finished fourth with a time of 9:09.62, while the 4x400 M team of Acosta, Chloe Smith, Morgan Towe and Gabby Bowen finished 10th with a time of 4:00.05.
Liz Montague was the lone field competitor for the Spiders on Sunday, finishing 14th in the triple jump.
