ORLANDO, Fla. – It appears that the University of Richmond women's tennis team enjoys the Florida sunshine.
In the first match of its week long trip to the Sunshine State, the Spiders took down Bowling Green in dominating fashion, 6-1, on Monday morning.
“The team looked really good today, transitioning to playing outdoor tennis on a consistent basis,” Head Coach Mark Wesselink said. “Brittany looks to be getting her serve back and I think we're close to getting our lineup back to full strength.”
Richmond started the match with quickly taking the doubles point in two 6-0 victories at the second and third spots in the doubles lineup.
Seniors Emily Gitman and Katya Salas kept momentum on the Spiders' side with decisive victories at the fifth and sixth spots in Richmond's lineup, both winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Sophomore Gaby Rosales, junior Brittany Boys and freshman Ana Ramirez also posted straight set victories to wrap up the 6-1 win for the Spiders.
