RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond women's tennis team cruised past Navy, 5-2, Saturday evening at the Country Club of Virginia. The Spiders secured four singles matches for the victory.
“I was very happy with our doubles today,” commented Richmond head coach Mark Wesselink. “We are being aggressive and dominated many matches. We have lost to Navy for the past three years and I feel like a 5-2 victory is a good barometer for where our team is right now. We are a solid team and much improved. We have some work to do, but right now I am very happy with our progress.
Richmond (1-1) picked up its first spring victory when it secured the win against the United States Naval Academy (2-2).
The Spiders got off to a strong start as it blanked the Midshipmen in doubles competition. The top duo of Anna Abadias Morales and Melissa Kandinata highlighted doubles with an 8-0 win at the top spot.
