
Freshman Ties Men's Tennis Season Record In Victory

FAIRFAX, Va. – Freshman Jacob Dunbar picked up his 20th win this spring to tie Richmond's all-time wins in a season with 27 as he led the Spiders to a 4-3 conference win over George Mason Thursday afternoon.
Richmond jumped out to an early lead after winning the doubles portion as the Dunbar brothers rallied for a 8-7 (5) win at the top spot and Canyon Teague and Alex Hahn picked up an 8-6 victory on court two.
With the 1-0 lead heading into singles action, the Spiders picked up three victories at the No. 1, 2, 4 and 6 spots. Dunbar tied the school record battling at the No. 2 spot with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Joe Hill. The freshman now sits with an impressive 27-4 season mark that ties Jesse Feder's 2010 season record of 27-6 as he continued his 20-match win streak.
Ethan Dunbar and Alex Hahn charted the final wins for Richmond on courts one and four, respectively.
Jacob Dunbar will have a chance to become Richmond's all-time leader when the Spiders face James Madison Saturday, April 12 in Harrisonburg, Va. at 3 p.m. for the final regular season game.
