UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond women's tennis team rallied past the Saint Joseph's Hawks, 3-2, in a shortened match at the Westwood Tennis Center.
“I liked the way we played today,” commented Richmond head coach Mark Wesselink. “Our mental toughness is improving and to pick up a close match in conference is great. Brittany came up big, playing at the No. 3 spot and clinching the victory.”
Playing four singles matches and one doubles match, the Spiders got on top early with a 6-4, 6-3 victory from the duo of Elizabeth Sims and Denny Lamachia.
Richmond then secured the victory after two singles victories. Anna Abadias Morales downed Kristina Eisenbrand, 6-2, 6-2, on court two, while Brittany Boys rallied for a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Devi Jadeja on court three.
The Spiders will be back on the court Tuesday, April 1 at East Carolina at 2 p.m.
