Wo Men's Tennis Drops Match At Georgetown
03/21/2014 | Women's Tennis
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Richmond women's tennis team fell to the Georgetown Hoyas, 4-3, Thursday at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex. The Spiders got up early after claiming the doubles point, but could not come away with the win in singles play.
Katya Salas and Brittany Boys battled at the No. 2 spot, defeating Kelly Comolli/Madelin Jaeger, 9-7, while freshman Denny Lamachia and Elizabeth Sims claimed a 8-6 victory at the No. 3 spot to give the Spiders the lead.
But only single wins from Boys and Salas on courts five and six, respectively, was not enough for Richmond to maintain the lead in singles play. Two out of the three Hoyas wins went to three sets.
The Spiders will return to the court Saturday, March 22 when they host A-10 opponent George Mason at 12 p.m.
