NORFOLK, Va. – The Richmond women's tennis team downed the West Virginia Mountaineers, 4-1, Friday on the campus of Old Dominion University.
With the help of a West Virginia default, Richmond got ahead early claiming the doubles points as Katya Salas and Anna Abadias Morales defeated Irinka Toidze and Vivian Tsui, 6-4, at the No. 2 spot.
In singles competition, it was Salas again who clinched the victory. The sophomore downed Irinka Toidze, 6-4, 6-3, on court four. Brittany Boys collected a single point with an easy 6-0, 6-2 victory over Vivian Tsui at the No. 5 spot.
The Mountaineers picked up the top two wins, but defaulted on court six to help the Spiders to the easy victory.
Richmond will return to the court Sunday, Feb. 16 when it travels to Annapolis, Md., to face Navy at 3 p.m.
