Spiders Compete Against Tribe in Season Opener
01/18/2012 | Men's Tennis
The Richmond men's tennis team fell to William and Mary, 4-3, in season opener on Tuesday.
Sophomore Ethan Dunbar began his season by defeating the Tribe's Anton Anderson, 6-2 and 6-4 in singles play. Juniors Jesse Feder and Justin Baker also earned wins over Adrian Vodislay and Jacob Braig, respectively.
"For the first match of the year, it was a positive showing in several spots," says Coach Ben Johnson. "I am extremely pleased with Ethan's progress. Jesse, who has led the team in wins the last two years, is playing better and better with each day. Justin, whom came through in a three setter, has made tremendous gains. Overall, we are a young team and need to gain experience. And hopefully with more experience, we can make small improvements. William and Mary is a tough team and we made it difficult for them."
The Spiders will continue play on January 20th against Maryland in College Park, Md.
