UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Spiders defeated in-state rival George Mason 6-1 over the weekend led by five victories in singles play.
"I give credit to George Mason for coming out strong in doubles," said head coach Ben Johnson. "It was an exciting (doubles) point. It came down to a tie-breaker on court #1 and Jesse hit a few big serves. After taking the doubles point, we had the momentum and took control of the match. I hope we can take some confidence from this match into the weekend in Philadelphia."
Richmond impressed in singles action, with five victories and took wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles.
The Spiders resume action at Temple Friday at 6:30 p.m.
