
Women's Tennis Cruises Past Memphis, 5-2

The Richmond women's tennis team cruised past Memphis 5-2 Saturday afternoon on the Westhampton Courts. The Spiders won two out of three in doubles action, while picking up four victories in singles play.
No. 1 spot, Erin Clark and Helen Cunningham defeated Ashley Murdock and Marjorie Ondeck, 8-4 while Alexandra Smyth and Sydney Grant, downed Andre Arques-Garcia and Dara Toulch, 8-2.
In singles play, Helen Cunningham, Smyth, Grant and Joanna Matuszczyk all notched wins. Cunningham downed Ondeck, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. Grant won by a 6-2, 7-6 score over Amanda Brown, while Smyth defeated Toulch 6-0, 6-1. Matuszczyk picked up the other win with a 6-3, 7-6(4) victory over Kelly Gray.
The Spiders host Binghampton Monday at 2:00 p.m.
