PETERSBURG, Va. -
The men's tennis team rolled past Virginia State, 6-1 this past weekend. The Spiders head to North Carolina this weekend for three matches.
In doubles action, No. 2 Rafael Arana/Dylan Schrode (UR) dominated William Richardson/Amir James (VS), 8-0 while No. 3 William Minters/A.J. Nelson (UR) cruised past Travis Jones/Daron Jack (VS), 8-3.
"We've lost a few tight matches this year against some solid teams, so it was nice for our kids to get back in the win column," said head coach Billy Boykin. "We're improving as a group every time out and it's important that we keep working hard and stay focused on playing our best tennis down the stretch."
In singles action, nearly every Spider recorded a victory. Richmond heads to North Carolina this weekend to face Charlotte and Winston-Salem State Saturday. The Spiders continue with North Carolina Central on Sunday.
