Men's Tennis Earns First 2008 Victory

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Spiders won two-of-three doubles matches and five-of-six matches in singles play to take down the Patriots in a 6-1 decision, Thursday March 6 in Richmond. The Spiders also hosted Charlotte, Wednesday March 5 but was unable to get the win as they fell in a close match to the 49ers, 4-3.
Chris Louis, Chris Louis and David Berry also pulled out a big win over Budagov and Hoskins, 8-2.
Against Charlotte, the Spiders fought hard but fell to the 49ers by just one-point. Banker teamed up with William Minter in doubles to edge Charlotte's Bernhoester team. The dynamic duo of Berry and Louis also earned a win for the Spiders in doubles play.
The overall match came down to singles play where Charlotte was able to go away with four wins. Richmond's number one player, Doug Banker, took down F. Bernhoester of Charlotte in a hard fought, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 decision. Also earning a singles win against Charlotte was William Minter who beat out M. Bernhoester, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3.
