
Men's Tennis Falls Just Short At Liberty, 4-3

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Spiders earned two doubles wins and two singles win as they fell to Liberty 4-3. Doug Banker and William Minter, and Michael Sommer and Drew Crank all came away with wins as teams, while Minter and Sommer each won their individual matches.
Doug Banker and William Minter teamed up to take down Liberty's Leandro Schujmann and Juan Reyes, 8-2. Michael Sommer and Drew Crank also got the win as a doubles team, over Sebastian Pena and Rafael Riso, 9-7.
Richmond's No. 3 player, Sommer, earned the win in his singles match over Jarda Trojan, 7-5, 7-5. William Minter, the Spiders' No. 5 man also earned the victory over Liberty's Rafael Riso, 6-1, 6-2.
Men's tennis returns to action this weekend, February 9 as they take on Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. at 10:30 a.m. ET.
