Richmond Women's Tennis Earns Fourth-Straight Win

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond women's tennis team earned its fourth-straight win of the season with 5-2 victory over the East Carolina Pirates Tuesday afternoon.
Pamela Duran and Ashlee Vosters overpowered the no. 2 spot with a quick 8-0 win, notching their ninth-straight win at victory at second doubles. Jessica Hubbard and Xenia Schneider followed with an 8-4 win at the no. 3 spot, and the Robin Carter/Beatrice Grasu duo battled for an 8-6 win at the no. 1 position to round out doubles action, securing the Spider sweep and the doubles point.
In singles action, #68 Duran continued her winning ways at the no. 1 spot taking a straight-set win over ECU's Anca Dumitru. Carter competed at second singles, coming from behind to take the victory over Varinia Soler, earning her fourth-straight win in singles action.
Grasu and Schneider dropped at third and fifth singles; however Vosters and Hubbard came through with their fourth-consecutive singles wins of the season at the no. 4 and 6 spots to give the Spiders a 5-2 victory, the fourth-straight on the season.
The Spiders (4-6, 1-1 in A-10) will return to the court on Saturday in Richmond, Va. with Atlantic 10 rival Massachusetts at 10:00 a.m.
