
Women's Tennis Blanks George Washington, 7-0

MONTCLAIR, Va. - The Richmond women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season in impressive fashion, blanking A-10 rival George Washington, 7-0. The Spiders dominated the contest, winning all six singles matches, as well as all three doubles matches.
Pamela Duran, Robin Carter, Beatrice Grasu, Ashlee Vosters, Xenia Schneider and Jessica Hubbard each won their singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles action, Grasu and Carter earned a hard-fought 9-7 win at the no. 1 position and Schneider and Jelena Zivanovic paired up for an 8-5 win at the no. 3 spot, while sophomores Duran and Vosters continued their winning ways at second doubles for the duo's sixth-straight win on the season, taking an 8-0 sweep.
"The team showed the benefits of playing a national schedule today, stated Richmond head coach Mark Wesselink. "We knew we were getting better and it was good to have our hard work finally validated. I was very impressed with our mental and physical toughness. Hopefully, we can build on this A-10 victory."
The Spiders (1-6, 1-1 in A-10) return to the court on Wednesday, hosting Davidson on the Richmond courts in a recently added match at 2:00 p.m.
