
Women's Tennis Defeats George Washington, 6-1

Richmond, Va. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team defeated conference rival George Washington, 6-1, on Saturday evening. The Spiders record improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the Atlantic 10, while the Colonials fall to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Spiders grabbed the early lead by winning the doubles point and never let up. Freshman Beatrice Grasu (Reisterstown, Md.) won her first match of the season, in the number one position, when she defeated George Washington's Lindy First, 6-1, 6-2. Winning both their singles and doubles sets were juniors Courtney Klein (East Amherst, N.Y.) and Lindsay Cox (Finchamstead, UK) and freshmen Robin Carter (Mendham, N.J.) and Grasu.
The Spiders are back in action Friday, February 13 when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take-on Villanova at 6 p.m.
