UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond men's tennis team recorded a 5-2 win over Liberty University this afternoon at the UR Tennis Complex. The Spiders improve to 6-8 on the year.
After dropping the doubles point with only one win in the three contests, the Spiders came back strong to win five of the six singles matches. Four Richmond players defeated their opponents in straight sets with the Spiders winning easily at the #2, 3, 5 and 6 spots. At the #5 position, Derek Schwandt (Kennett Square, Pa.) came back to earn the point in the third set after winning 6-2 in the first but falling 4-6 in the second.
"We had very strong performances in the singles events, but need to focus on improving our doubles game," head coach Steve Gerstenfeld commented after the match.
