
Men's Tennis Rolls Past Dukes, 6-1

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond men's tennis team had little trouble with James Madison Friday afternoon, defeating the Dukes, 6-1, in a match played at the University of Richmond. The day belonged to senior Todd Parker (Richmond, Va.) who, playing in his last home match for the Spiders, picked up two victories after being honored prior to the match.
Parker teamed with sophomore David Donn (East Longmeadow, Mass.) at No. 3 doubles to win, 8-2. Junior Danny Scrafford (Centreville, Va.) and freshman Derek Schwandt (Kennett Square, Pa.) also notched a victory in doubles, 8-1 at the No. 2 spot, as the Spiders took a 1-0 lead.
Richmond then went on to handle James Madison in singles action, winning five of the six matches, all in straight sets. Parker knocked off Jose Acuna, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 6 singles spot to win his second match of the day and improve to 8-6 this spring. Donn and Scrafford also picked up their second win of the day, winning at the No.s 2 and 3 positions, respectively. Freshmen Matthew Cabana (Plantation, Fla.) and Jeppy Moss (Fredericksburg, Va.) also won, as each claimed their 13th victory of the spring.
Up next for Richmond (14-9) is the Atlantic 10 Championships from April 12-14 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
